Woo Hoo!!!!!!! We had so much fun on Monday night -- it was great to see our friends The Aversions, who showed up with a brand-spankin new guitar player. And, it was so cool to meet the guys from Don Cikuta -- punk rockers from near Valencia, Spain!! They don't speak much english, and we don't speak much spanish, so it was a night of pointing, charades & interpreters. But once the show started, we realized (cheesy as it sounds) that we all speak rock 'n rolll!!! After all the bands had played, it was a lot easier to communicate amongst ourselves; it was like we had introduced ourselves to each other through our sets. We found out that we had something in common with Don Cikuta (other than kicking ass!!), Xavi, the guitar player/singer told Samm that after Joey Ramone died, CBGB's called and asked them to play at the tribute show -- just like we'd been called to play at the Pound when Dee Dee died.
Of course, right as we started loading our gear onto the stage, the cops showed up with a noise complaint, but the crew at Kimo's have got their shit together, and they produced the documents proving that the club had been soundproofed and approved by the SFPD. The officer hung around for a while (personally, I think the noise complaint was merely a guise for him to get into our show for free!!); and then took off with NO FURTHER INCIDENT!!! It's beyond cool that Kimo's has put in the money, time and effort to keep the upstairs open for bands; they could just as easily close it down.
Thanks, as always, to Boom and the crew at Kimo's & all the rock 'n rollers who came out on Monday night to party with the Pills!!!!!!!!!!!!!
